Good afternoon all, The beat team have recently been made aware of some parking issues now schools are back, the team have carried out visits to schools and noted the standard of parking is not ideal. Please can everyone be mindful of how they park when picking up/dropping off at schools, we want everyone to remain safe whilst doing school runs, here are a few tips to bare in mind- Please ensure you do not park over peoples drives and block them in by doing so, your car may be recovered if the beat team come across a car parked whereby it is blocking someone in their drive.Do not park on, opposite, or within 10m of a junction, this creates difficulty for other road users as it makes it hard to maneuver around them without having potentially dangerous blind spots, therefore making it harder for other road users, and dangerous for pedestrians.Do not park on double yellows/zig zags, they are there for a reason. Doing so can cause difficulty for other road users and potentially pedestrians looking to cross the road.Do not park in a way where you are obstructing a large part of the footpath, this makes it extremely difficult for children, adults, and pushchairs/wheelchairs to get by without potentially having to go into the road. And as you can imagine, a pedestrian stepping into a road which is already chaotic is not ideal!Thank you all for your understanding, please have a read of this and take it into account when you are doing school runs. |
